The “Château Pape Clément” Stradivarius entrusted to brilliant violinist
Nicolas Dautricourt.
‘If I purchased a Stradivarius violin in 2011, it was not to keep it locked away and
hidden out of sight, but to share its nobility and unique sound, that is both lyrical
and full-bodied. As part of my foundation, the Institut Culturel Bernard Magrez,
I entrusted it to the young Matthieu Arama, the first violin with the Bordeaux
Aquitaine National Orchestra. I have now chosen Nicolas Dautricourt, regarded as
one of the most brilliant violinists of his generation, to fulfil a mission that is very
dear to me’, Bernard Magrez explains.
‘The name Stradivarius is a legendary one, that of the most famous instrument
maker of all time. For a violinist, to play one of his violins means to play one of the
most prestigious instruments ever made. Antonio Stradivari wished that those
who bought one of his violins would choose a name for it. Every day, I cannot help
making fortunate comparisons between this violin and my vines – and not only
because I named it after one of my Graves
grands crus classés
: the “Château Pape
Clément”.
