This mixture of instruments is quite a challenge.

I know it might look rather bold. These two instruments

represent two facets of my work. Andwhen personal motivation

and pleasure coincide with musical interest, that gives a project

its legitimacy.

I first tried out this mix at the Saintes Festival, at the suggestion

of Stephan Maciejewski, and since then I’ve often presented it

in concert. Contrary to what one might imagine, it doesn’t jolt

the ear. Even if it’s disconcerting, it’s also an enriching situation

for listeners to find themselves confronted with two worlds,

two sonorities, two periods. You get used quite easily to the

differences in pitch.
