Your eclectic discography embraces Ravel, Dusapin, Schubert and even

electronic music . . . What place does this new recording of Mozart and

Clementi occupy?

This is the first time I’ve worked with La Dolce Volta, which was a suitable occasion

to offer a new experience: I couple the modern piano and the fortepiano on the

same disc. I recorded on a Brodmannn of 1814 and a Yamaha CFX.

I only began playing early instruments relatively recently, in 2008, when I gave my

first concert on a 1790Walter. It was thanks to the conductor François-Xavier Roth

that I got to know the fortepiano. In fact, we recorded the Second Concerto of

Théodore Dubois on period instruments with his orchestra, Les Siècles. François-

Xavier assured me that I was made for the fortepiano, but at the time I didn’t

necessarily want to explore that world.When I was younger I was interested above

all in power, in big sound, and less in the intimacy of the fortepiano. What’s more,

I had never been introduced to the technique of these instruments, and so I didn’t

feel capable of handling them. Finally, after trying one out, I fell in love with it
