Certainly, especially as there is always more to discover in this score. It is a work that one can ponder throughout one’s life, without ever finding definitive answers. How did the work unveil itself to you during that recording? I began with certain intuitions concerning phrasing, the choice of tempi, and the use of the pedal, all of which were enhanced during the studio sessions. I took into account my breathing, allowed myself to be guided by the spirit of the dance, which is essential in this work, and focused my listening on the different voices to find the polyphonic balance that ensures clarity of musical discourse. All this in pursuit of an interpretation that is objectively sincere.
