An invitation to perform these variations in the 2024 Radio France Montpellier Occitanie Festival finally persuaded me to embark upon the adventure, after much hesitation, such is the intimidating stature of this monument of the keyboard repertoire. And yet so many pianists dream of taking the plunge! Ultimately, this new recording project was perfectly in sync with my aspirations at the time. After exploring the Brahmsian world in all its profundity, I felt the need to undergo a new experience in the recording studio that would allow me to attain a more complete vision of Bach’s work. For recording offers the possibility of turning a score every which way, of pushing experimentation and reflection to a very high degree.
