is only a parade of symbolic or metaphorical characters

for which the inflections of a piano, the trill of a violin or

the lament of an oboe are expressing the truth about a

given feeling, a psychological approach similar to what

you’ll find in an operatic aria. This is definitely what

Strauss meant about Mozart never ceasing to sing.
