DAVID GRIMAL ∙ LES DISSONANCES 19 Enescu the violinist is a key representative of what you have sometimes called the ‘golden age’ of the violin. As a violinist, do you feel a kind of nostalgia for that era? When we look back towards the past, we often see the most beautiful reflections and forget the darkest ones. I am happy and grateful to have received its legacy from my teachers and through the works composed at that time. ‘However, this is not a moment for nostalgia, but for keeping alive the passion that motivates us, so that we can give the public and the younger generations of musicians the strength to pursue still further the quest for beauty. In that respect, Enescu is a particularly inspirational figure.’
