13 RAPHAËL JOUAN ∙ ORCHESTRE NATIONAL DE METZ GRAND EST ∙ DAVID REILAND It was in your hometown that you recorded this album, with the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est and its Music Director David Reiland. What is it that still links you to this formation? Raphaël Jouan: Both my parents are members of the orchestra: my mother is in the violin section and my father in the viola section. I thus grew up alongside this orchestra, which I regularly went to hear in concert and whose musicians, many of whom I have knownsince my earliest childhood. My relationship with them was strengthened when I had the opportunity to play alongside them as a substitute musician. I also took part in the recording of Les Poétesses symphoniques, conducted by David Reiland and released in 2023 on the Dolce Volta label. And even though I have been living in Paris for about twelve years, I remain deeply attached to this city where I lived and studied until the age of eighteen. It is therefore here, at the Cité musicale-Metz, that some of my most important artistic projects have taken shape.
