What new horizons did Busoni open up for you? When I started looking at the scores and began to play the music, I had a kind of sonic revelation. I carried the memory of these works, and they were present within me, when suddenly developed on the piano by Busoni, they took on a truly incredible magnitude. So I threw myself into the repertoire, and I wasn’t mistaken. I have already been rewarded for this approach by the immense pleasure I experienced with this sound quality throughout the learning, the recording, and the listening. And I found myself in harmony with the concept of the recording, which I hadn’t particularly appreciated until then. I don’t know why, but this music, processed by Busoni, gives the recording more than any other its true reason for being. What he does with the pianistic material makes it extraordinary, and for me, it’s a kind of sonic fulfillment that deeply satisfies me. And since I don’t play the organ, Busoni was the only possible path for me to reach this sublime music. I simply try to bring to life within myself the sonorities I used to hear when attending Mass. I know how it sounds. 20 PLEIN JEU
