Axel Arno

LDV03 photo-illustrateur

Axel Arno has been questioning time slips since 1988 with his photographs of tracks, marks, superimpositions, walls, extremely intense colours. These visions are an invitation to discover landscapes, tempting you to dive into worlds which are dreamlike, fantastical, urban and personal.

After having made collages, combining various materials, he brings back series of photographic prints from his distant travels in the Orient and South America to show what lies in our people’s souls. Since 2000, he has appropriated the urban space with his Signals, produced a video trail of Bach’s Goldberg Variations (released on DVD), created series which explore chromatic confrontations and devised pho- tographic compositions entitled Can the sky wait? In 2008, his New Latitudes was exhibited in Beijing’s Forbidden City Theatre. Critics say that certain famous pianists and conductors grab the sound of the music. Axel Arno grabs colours and light in a moment that brings us to overcome our daily limits. These pictures far from any infografic manipulations, witness the search of the “Or du Temps”.
